LEXINGTON, NC, July 27, 2016 (Newswire.com) – Point Security, Inc. has recently donated $1,500 to our local police department in an effort to help the community’s teenagers make sense of what law enforcement does and how and why they do it. The Lexington Police Department believes that showing teenagers what law enforcement does on a daily basis will not only inform them of what the day-to-day duties are for police officers, but also let them see if joining ‘the force’ is the right career path for them.

The three-day police camp, funded by a generous donation of $1,500 from Point Security Inc., will teach kids what each law enforcement division does through partaking in simulations and hands-on practice. This involves learning about crime scene investigations, SWAT team probes, K-9 unites, fingerprinting, and question and answer sessions. There is also a physical component to the camp where students will participate in obstacle courses and rope climbing.

“We are always looking for ways to give back to our local community,” said Brian Holland, President of Point Security, Inc. “We really believe that if we come together, we can make a difference.”

The camp is dedicated to youth aged 13 to 16 and is intended to be a mentoring program, teaching them about leadership and what it means to be a positive role model.

This is the first year that the LPD has held a complementary camp for students; and officers hope that it’s not the last. With students becoming more aware of what law enforcement does and having a thorough understanding of how and why they do what they do, youth can better interpret the police officers of their community.

After the three day camp has come to an end, a graduation ceremony will take place at the Community Watch dinner, honoring the students and congratulating them on completing the camp.
